I would walk 500 miles

and I would walk 500 more. OK, so it was really only 5 miles but it was for a wonderful cause. On Sunday, Matt and I, along with Baby Carter, participated in the March of Dimes walk to help raise money for research on Premature Births. And in Ohio, Shawna and Keira walked as well! It was an absolutely beautiful day as we walked our way through Downtown Indianapolis. After the walk little Carter was really hungry (from all that hard work I am sure) so we stopped at Military Park and ate lunch with all the other walkers. Thanks to all of you who supported us on our walk; your contribution will make a difference in lives of millions of families!

Like a Baby

He sleeps like a baby! Whoever first came up with this phrase has obviously never had a baby. Although they may sleep frequently, they definitely do not sleep long. Carter took a nap in his crib yesterday for the very first time! Looking at the picture, Carter loved it "this much" with his little arms stretched out wide! He loved it so much that we tried to have him sleep in his crib last night for the very first time. I cried as we tucked him in, but not to worry I still got to hold him every three hours when he woke up to eat. Today Carter is 9 weeks old, and what a wonderful 9 weeks it has been!

2 months old!

Two months, two whole months. It is hard to believe that little Carter has been gracing us with his appearance for two whole months! We went to the doctor on Monday for his check-up. He had to get his 2 month shots. I think I cried harder and longer than he did. It broke my heart having to hold him while they gave him four shots, two in each leg. So sad! Good thing is that as soon as they were done I picked him up and the crying stopped. My tears however continued to fall almost the whole way home. We found out that Carter has a little hernia so we will have to take him to Riley so the Pediatric Surgeon can fix it next week. It just breaks my heart to even think of it. On a happier note, little Carter is growing strong. He was 10 lbs 4 oz and 21 1/2 inches long, which means he gained a whopping 3 lbs this month! And he can finally fit into all those cute little 0-3 month outfits that everybody has bought for him!

Puppy Love

Sampson, our family dog, absolutely adores Carter. Sampson is never more than just a few steps away and is always the first to let us know that little Carter has made the slightest of noise. He loves sitting by Carter watching him play, although sometimes he thinks that the squeaky toys are for him. You can always tell what room we are sitting in with Carter because Sampson can be found guarding the entry into that room. What a good little babysitter Sampson has become. Now, if we could just get him to change those diapers!

Showing off.....

his new skills! Over the past week or two Carter has really developed a strong neck! He absolutely loves laying on his Boppy and pushing himself up into this position to take a look around! Can you believe he is almost 8 weeks old? Time Flies!

Here is Carter's first smile caught on camera! He was just hanging out listening to a little Baby Mozart and when I walked into the room to check on him this is what I found. It just warms the heart doesn't it?

Carter's First Month

One month old and counting! Carter was 7 lbs 7 oz at his 1 month appointment and the little stinker hasn't stopped growing. I weighed him the other day on his baby scale and he was 9 lbs 1 oz. He is packing on the weight! His little cheeks are starting to fill out and I believe I got a mere glimpse of some tiny rolls on his inner thighs. Too cute! Carter loves playing on his activity mat. With all the little animals and fun colors who wouldn't enjoy a little playtime! He also enjoys hanging out in his swing. But for the most part his favorite place to rest and relax is in the arms of either Matt or me. I wont complain though because I have heard these moments don't last forever.

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful time celebrating Carter's first Easter with the Mennel family. We all stayed at the Lake for the weekend and attended mass in Nashville! Carter did such a good job at church....he slept through the entire mass. After church we had lunch with my family and got to see what the Easter Bunny brought for all the kiddos. Thanks the to the 40 degree weather the Easter Bunny had to hide eggs inside this year...the kids loved it just the same!
