Silly shots and Cereal!

Those silly little shots! Carter turned 4 months last Friday and with that comes the 4 month check-up and more shots. Mommy did better this time with the shots but Carter cried just a little harder...I think him being slightly older made him cry just a little bit more. So sad! It breaks my heart every time. Nana Mennel went with us and she too was a little teary eyed. Carter weighed in at 13 pounds, 5 ounces and 24 inches long. He is in the 10-25% for length and 25% for weight. Overall, he is doing well and looks great!

Since he is 4 months and doing so well, the doctor said we could start him on cereal and by the looks of the smile above Carter thought that sounded like a great idea! So far so good, Carter seems to really like it! He just smiles and he even tries to move his head closer to the spoon to get a bite! In a few weeks we get to try vegetables!! It is hard to believe that he is old enough to start eating baby food. He is just getting so big. Time flies, so we just try to hold on and enjoy every minute!

It was 92 over the weekend and it was HOT so we hit the pool for a little cool down!

Father's Day Camping Trip

Carter thought long and hard about what he wanted to do for Daddy's 1st Father's day, and he came up with starting an annual Father/Son Camping Trip.....mommy's are welcome too! So, we packed up the Pathfinder, pack 'n play in tow, and headed out to Brown County for a little camping adventure! Carter also got daddy a portable hammock for the two of them to lounge around on...very nice idea Carter! Once the hammock was set up mommy was a thing of the past as daddy and Carter played for what seemed to be hours. Parents Magazine to the rescue, mommy too was entertained! After a bit of relaxation we started out on a couple of hikes but it was HOT HOT HOT so then we retired to the pool!

All those Rolls

and you thought I was talking about the rolls on his thighs? Or maybe the rolls under his chin? Nope, on Sunday June 10th Carter rolled over for the very 1st time. At first, he looked at me like he was so completely confused but then I sat him up and he did it again and again and again and he would just laugh like it was the best thing he had ever done! We were so proud of him so of course we got out the video camera and then proceeded to call the family to let them in on our big news....Carter is getting so big! We just love watching him grow, explore, and learn new things. He is laughing all the time, holding his head up, eating his hands like they are going out of style, and now rolling over. What will come next, driving a car? Whatever it may be, we are just so excited to be called the parents of this precious little boy, a true gift from God!

A Walk in the Park

Saturday was such a bright sun shiny day that we decided to take Carter for his first hike in the woods! We went to Shades State Park and after we enjoyed our picnic lunch we hit the trails for a little afternoon hike! Carter loved looking around as the sun shined through all the trees and a cool breeze blew through his hair...it wasn't long into the hike that little Carter tired out and fell fast asleep while I carried 13 lbs of extra weight. How did I ever make it carrying all that pregnancy weight? We went down by the river where Matt skipped rocks and talked about how he couldn't wait to take Carter there and teach him to fish...I reminded him that Carter was only 3 1/2 months so the fishing lesson would need to wait just a few more years! Overall, we had a wonderful day hiking and I cannot wait until next weekend when we will try our hand at camping with Carter for the first time. Wish us luck!

So, I got an email today from my dear friend Sara telling me that it was time to update my blog. She said she couldnt wait to see him and that she missed him. Whats not to miss about a guy with dark hair, blue eyes, big smile, and a half dozen rolls? Eat your heart out Sara, this entry is just for you!

Carter took a bath and got all cleaned up for his lunch date with his Auntie Sara! Notice by the wide smile that he is just a little excited for this special day!

Here is Carter just minutes after he got the news that his little girlfriend Evie has Roseola. Not to worry, I am sure he and Evie will be hitting the local beach (aka Danville Water Park) sometime soon!
